Understanding Plantar Fasciitis: Heel pain is usually caused by Plantar Fasciitis: an inflammation of the fibrous tissue (plantar fascia) along the bottom of your foot that connects your heel bone (calcaneus) to your toes. The plantar fascia acts like a shock absorbing bowstring, supporting the arch in your foot. If tension on that bowstring becomes too great, minute tears can occur which form scar tissue on the injured areas of the plantar fascia. The result is a stabbing or burning pain that is usually worse in the morning because the plantar fascia contracts overnight.
Treating Plantar Fasciitis: Rolling your foot on the Plantar F3 will stretch and begin healing your plantar fascia so that you can begin walking without pain. Each time you eliminate that sharp stabbing pain in your heel you are one step closer to being completely healed! Using the Plantar F3 helps remodel the plantar fascia scar tissue into stronger, more functional bands to facilitate healing. Your Plantar F3 can be warmed or chilled for hot or cold therapy. Using the Plantar F3 at room temperature or warmer will increase blood flow, warm newly formed scar tissue and facilitate healing. Using the Plantar F3 cold will calm and reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Only the Plantar F3 isolates the plantar fascia for optimal stretching, offers cold therapy for pain relief, and provides heat therapy to facilitate healing.
PLANTAR F3™ FOOT ROLLER INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Select one of the three contact surfaces on the Plantar F3 to
isolate your plantar fascia.
Roll foot forward and back along the Plantar F3, applying enough
force for a comfortable stretch. Applying too much force may cause
pain and further injury.
Use before stepping out of bed: Use the Plantar F3 warm or at room temperature for three minutes before stepping out of bed. Goal = stretch the plantar fascia tissue for pain free walking.
Use before activity and/or during the day: Use the Plantar F3 warm or at room temperature for three minutes anytime during the day or before activity. Goal = preparing plantar fascia for walking/activity.
After activity and/or for pain relief: Use the Plantar F3 cold for three minutes anytime during the day, after activity or if pain levels are high. Goal = reduce inflammation and pain relief.
Heating: Warning: Do not place in ovens, microwaves, stovetops, near an open flame or any direct heat source. Heat water in a container to your desired temperature. (Do not bring water to a boil). Place the Plantar F3 in the water for three to five minutes. Remove with tongs, let stand one minute to cool, towel dry. Test Plantar F3 for desired temperature prior to contact with skin. A comfortably warm Plantar F3 is most effective.
Cooling: Place in freezer for three or more hours. Test the Plantar F3 for desired temperature before contact with skin.
Warning: Do not place in ovens, microwaves, stovetops, near an open flame or any direct heat source. Do not place the Plantar F3 directly against your skin if it is too hot or too cold (usable range is approximately 39°F - 104°F). Do not use if you have diabetes or any condition where sensation or circulation may be diminished. If pain increases, discontinue use and consult your physician or medical provider.
Cleaning: Use soap and water to clean the Plantar F3. Towel Dry.
Treatment Plan: It is generally recommended to use the Plantar F3 for approximately three minutes prior to stepping out of bed, prior to activity, after activity and as needed during the day. Consult with your Medical Professional to develop the proper treatment plan to fit your needs.
Treatment Log: Create a treatment log noting the date, time of day, treatment time and whether the Plantar F3 was used at room temperature, warm or cold. Then rate your pain level before and after treatment on a scale of 1 to 10. Review the log periodically to determine which treatment methods are most effective for you.
